Please include:
- Your name and a short description of your relevant experience.
- Your website or professional profile, if available.
- A proposed title and brief outline.
- The reader question your article will answer.
- The sources, expertise, or original material you can contribute.
- One or two relevant writing samples, if available.
- Any company, client, or commercial relationship connected to the proposal.
Sending a proposal first allows us to assess its relevance and identify potential overlap with existing or planned content.
Content Requirements
Submissions should be original, clearly written, and tailored to our audience. Tell us if the material has appeared elsewhere or is being considered by another publication.
Use descriptive headings, short paragraphs, and practical explanations. Include tables, checklists, or FAQs when they genuinely help the reader. Article length should match the depth needed to answer the question.
Support technical recommendations, statistics, and product claims with reliable sources. Prefer relevant manufacturer documentation, government guidance, university extension resources, and recognized professional organizations.
Explain important differences in materials, climate, installation, and site conditions. Avoid presenting one method as suitable for every property.
Experience, Testing, and Images
Represent your qualifications and experience accurately. Only describe testing, site visits, or completed projects that actually took place.
Clearly distinguish personal observations from published research or manufacturer claims. If writing tools assist with a submission, the contributor remains responsible for its accuracy, originality, and sources.
Submit only images you own or have permission to publish. Include appropriate credits and explain what each image shows. Illustrations must not be presented as evidence of a real project or product test.
Links and Commercial Disclosures
Include links when they support a claim, identify a source, or provide useful context for the reader.
Disclose relevant employment, client relationships, sponsorships, affiliate arrangements, or other commercial interests. Promotional placements should be discussed through our Work With Us page.
We review links for relevance and may edit or remove them. Sponsored content and paid links are identified appropriately. Submission or payment does not guarantee publication or a particular link treatment.
Editorial Review
We review proposals and submissions for relevance, accuracy, originality, and reader value. We may request supporting evidence, suggest a different angle, require revisions, or decline a submission.
Before an accepted project proceeds, we agree on its scope, attribution, publication rights, and any applicable commercial terms.
